CEMEX started a journey to innovate through the use of social networks in 2009. Being one of the early-adopters of IBM Connections, its journey has yielded great results.
However, the market conditions for the construction market have changed, and CEMEX needs to prepare itself for a scalable operating model to sustain the collaboration culture that it was introduced a few years ago.
A new global networks model has then been created, in which key representatives of the network are embedded into the organization. This facilitates the development of new policies: the “playbooks” to be replicated in our daily operations.
Never before were the networks so empowered as today, and this shows in our new model. Through the deployment of our very own CEMEXpedia, we intend to capture the knowledge spread throughout our organization and facilitate its replication.
Let us share with you our learnings and how we envision a truly interconnected, global network.

This session is all about WIM (WebSphere Identity Manager) the part within WebSphere which handles everything about security. IBM Connections needs to be hooked into this functionality so that users when they authenticate with the platform will be automatically coupled with their user info as it is available within the Profiles application and all other user information available in the individual applications which makes the IBM Connections platform. We will also handle SPNEGO and how it interacts with WIM and IBM Connections. IBM Connections also have some additional applications which are now embedded into the platform like FileNet (which is called Connections Content Manager) / Cognos / FEB (Forms Experience Builder). These applications needs also interactions with WIM and IBM Connections. I will handle how everything is tight together.

The benefits of IBM Connections is more than establishing a set of Social Business tools to improve communication and collaboration. If Connections is used as a open platform for sharing information and data, discussions, insights, ideas, opinions etc., it becomes a treasure of data containing a lot of knowledge about the company itself. This treasure can contain answers to questions like:
Who is driving discussions and progress?
In this session we will show, how this treasure can be lifted by applying methods of business analytics and big data to IBM Connections. Come to see how Watson, Hadoop & Co. can bring additional value to your Connections investment.
IBM Domino can be used not only as LDAP server for authentication to IBM Connections, but also as a platform for simple user enrolment and self-service applications in XPages (password change, forgotten password, users registration queue etc). We will present the solution developed for a real customer running B2B portal on Connections 4.5, showing benefits of Connections - Domino coexistence.

So be uber Social and come along to see how to create a Social XPages application!
You don’t have to be a large company to take advantage of social business. Adoption doesn't depend on the size of a company, instead, it depends on the size of the actual community. A SMB company can work with a very large community – like customers community, and vice versa, a big company can have small teams or small communities of experts.
In this session, we will focus on social business adoptions in SMB and corresponding implementation strategies for IBM Connections.
Many companies decide to use their Internet Web Content Management System for their Intranet too. Web Content Management Systems are excellent in top-down communication. IBM Connections is excellent in peer-to-peer collaboration. Using separate platforms for communication and collaboration causes confusion and confronts users and authors with difficult choices: where to publish and where to search content. Governance problems, fragmentation, user frustration and lost potential are the consequences.
The Web Content Management Extension (XCC) enhances IBM Connections with classic Web CMS capabilities and thus integrates the two antipodes of an intranet, i.e. peer-to-peer collaboration with top-down communication. IBM Connections with the Web Content Management Extension XCC creates a beautifully integrated Social Intranet. See a extensive live demo of XCC. Learn how to manage internal communications with IBM Connections and why IBM Connections adoption and ROI will increase with XCC.
Before migrating your Quickr Domino servers to Connection CCM learn the tips and tricks from real world examples on how to make the move easier. I will live demo how the IBM's tools migrate docs and files to a CCM Community Library.

Does it make sense to use both the complex collaboration and other specialized system like CRM? And where to keep your data if you are from Sales or Marketing? And what about tasks, calendar, helpdesk or documents? We can usually find many overlaps between two modern systems and it’s not always easy to choose the right strategy for using them. An integration looks like the easiest answer, but it takes a lot of decisions to make before the implementation. Let’s see how the developers of the IBM Award winning CRM system solved these issues.
You’ll see the current level of integration of GEDYS Intraware 8 CRM with IBM Connections.
We love Activities in Connections. They are awesome! Working together on projects and leveraging Social Tools is a very powerful way of working. However some Activities can get BIG and sometimes users need to look at their tasks or organise the Activity slightly differently. Sometimes users don't need to see everything that is going on but just one part. Sometimes it would be easier if Activities was more VISUAL!
Come and see the awesomeness of Kudos Boards for IBM Connections! Imagine a visual way of viewing and managing your Connections Activities. Personalized, Visual, Productive, FAST - Kudos Boards has been designed to do this and a whole lot more, all seamlessly integrated into the IBM Connections interface. If you think that Kudos Badges was designed well, then Kudos Boards will rock your socks :)
With the introduction of an open collaboration platform that works under the “self-service” approach, it was just a matter of time that users requested a similar approach to build their own enterprise applications.
Besides their communities, user groups wanted to execute more sophisticated operations, through the integration of our collaboration platforms with transactional systems. They need to fill gaps that other platforms do not cover or cannot offer a customized approach as required by those communities.
Through the use of IBM Forms Experience Builder and its integration capabilities, CEMEX has developed a framework which intends to provide business groups the possibility to create their own business applications.
The framework is intented to be self-sustainable. Through the provision of do-it-yourself guides and case studies in a shared community, many applications (including some connecting to SAP) have already been built in 30% of the time needed under traditional IT scheme
Take the low hanging fruits and start with developing application for connections. Unleash the full power of OpenNTF Essentials! Learn in 30 minutes how to start, what APIs to use and which services you should use. Get inspired, what user stories are already solved in IBM Connections and where the missing links are.

In a business world changing at a rampant pace, where both speed & innovation matter more than ever before, where complexity & uncertainty are now the new normal & where only 13% of today’s corporate workforce is engaged at work, one cannot but wonder what’s the future of work eventually.
The traditional hierarchical, top-down driven business world (rather strict, competitive, bureaucratic & political) keeps failing to meet up with today’s customers’ needs & expectations. Work is changing though & the new opportunity is how do we best cope, manage & facilitate that change. Key concepts like co-creation, transparency, open knowledge sharing, cooperation, collaboration, authenticity, trust. etc. are becoming the new postnormal of how work gets done. It’s no longer top down mandated, but networked inspired & distributed. It’s hyperconnected, smarter, more scalable, as powerful & influential networks become the new funnel of getting work done. Welcome to Change Agents Worldwide!
